TIPPING SUGGESTIONS: UPDATED 12/26/25

Here are tipping suggestions for Africa participants.

This is based on Christopher's recommendations. He likes to take care of the people over there and will leave a generous tip.

This email includes all portions of the trip - be aware of which portions of the workshop you are signed up for and which you aren't. After the general tipping guide, you will find a breakdown of the regular Africa Trip. At the bottom of the page we have included a suggested tipping guide for the Mashatu Extension.

General Tipping Guide

Transport Drivers $5 per day per person

Guides $25 per person per day

Trackers $15 per person per day

General Staff $10 per person per day

Ronel (our escort guide) $10 per day (Suggested)

Specific Tipping Guide for Full Africa Workshop

Pangolin / Chobe January (1st Leg of Trip) January 18-23, 2025

- No transport driver (walk to airport from hotel, lodge staff pick up at other airport)

- Guides $25 x 5 days = $125

- No trackers

- General staff $10x 5 days = $50

Total per person = $175

Kruger January (2nd Leg of Trip) January 24-27, 2026

- Transfer 2 ways (coming and going) $5 x 2 = $10

- Guides $25 x 4 days = $100

- No trackers

- Lodge Staff $10 x 4 days = $40

Total per person $150

Inyati (Final Leg of Trip) January 27-February 2, 2026

- Transfer 2 ways $5 x 2 = $10

- Guides $25 x 7 days = $175

- Trackers $15 x 7 days = $105

- General Staff $10 x 7 = $70

Total per person $360

Do I Need to Exchange USD for Local?

Botswana will accept USD like their own local pula.

You can change money at the airport but it is not necessary to do so.

Either USD or local currency accepted for tips.

In South Africa the local currency is Rand. At Inyati (Sabi Sands) you have the option to pay your tips (and shop in the gift shop :) ) using a credit card.

If you do convert some cash you won't need a lot if you don't want to carry it around.
